Anand Group and Mando Corporation have announced the formation of a joint venture (JV) to supply motor and controller to the emerging two- and three-wheeler market. Coming in a short span of the Indian Government’s announcement of the Phase II of its FAME policy with a particular attention to electric two- and three-wheelers, the move marks the next and equally progressive phase of collaboration between the two partners. It was in 1997 that Anand Group and Mando Corporation inked a JV to set up Mando Automotive India Private Limited (MAIPL) to manufacture state-of-the-art brake systems. In 2012, Anand Group acquired a stake in Mando Steering Systems India Limited. With no less than three big states in India – Rajasthan, Haryana and Maharashtra – announcing their own EV policies last month, the new JV between Anand Group and Mando Corporation reflects once again on how the electromobility landscape in India is evolving. It is evolving at the two- and three-wheeler level rather than at the passenger car level.
