Bridgestone Makes It To CDP’s Water Security A List 2021

Bridgestone Corporation has been included in this year’s Water Security A List by CDP, a global environmental non-profit, for excellence in water security response initiatives.

Bridgestone is among the 118 responsible companies that have made this year's water security A List from out of the nearly 3,000 companies surveyed. Bridgestone Group’s Water Stewardship Policy was developed in 2020 as an important element of its Long-Term Environmental Vision for 2050 to ensure availability of water on a socially equitable basis as well as preservation of water cycle.

The policy addresses water issues through a stakeholder-inclusive process that involves catchment-, site- and downstream-based actions. As per the company, these efforts helped its Buenos Aires Plant in Argentina as well as its Izmit Plant in Turkey to achieve reductions in water withdrawal by 65 percent and 35 percent, respectively, in 2020 (compared to a 2005 baseline).

Shuichi Ishibashi, Global CEO of Bridgestone Corporation, said, ”The Bridgestone Group recognizes that water is an essential resource for the continuation of the Group's business, and that the Group has a responsibility to promote socially equitable water access and preservation of the water cycle. As a sustainable solutions company toward 2050, the Bridgestone Group is collaborating with stakeholders throughout its products’ lifecycles and value chains to continue to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.” (TT)
