Hankook appoints new MD for its European plant in Hungry

Hyung Yun Kim is appointed as the new managing director of Hankook Tire’s European plant in Hungry. Kim succeeds Seong Hak Hwang who has been managing the site since 2017.

Kim joined the company in 1991 after completing BSc in Chemistry and MSc in Physical Chemistry from Inha University in Korea. He has held various managerial roles within the company since joining and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge into the new position.

The Racalmas plant in Hungry is the company’s leading European plant with up to 19 million tyres produced in a year. The plant employs around 3000 people and is vital for Hankook’s European operations. Since its inception, the factory has expanded continually with a total investment of around EUR 900 million till day.

Talking about Kim’s appointment, Sanghoon Lee, President of Hankook Tire Europe, said “With his profound technological expertise and long-term business experience, our new factory MD will continue our success, paved by his predecessors, together with our proud employees”.

Kim hopes to maintain the high standards that his predecessors set and also wants to continue to strengthen Hankook’s position in the European market with the latest technological innovations and a premium portfolio.
