Hankook Tire Awarded Carbon Management Sector Honors by CDP

Hankook Tire has been awarded the Carbon Management Sector Honors by CDP, winning the highest grade ‘A’ in recognition of its performance in climate change response and water security.

The CDP report is one of the most trusted indicators for environmental, social, and corporate governance that assesses companies’ environmental transparency and action on climate change, forests, and water security disclosures.

The award was given at the CDP Climate Change Korea Awards 2020 hosted by CDP Korea Commission on April 28. Hankook previously won the Carbon Management Sector Honors four times in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018. Furthermore, the tyre maker was included in the CDP Supplier Engagement Leaderboard in 2018, standing among the highest rated companies for supplier engagement on climate change.

This achievement underlines Hankook’s commitment to its CSR goals, which include using 100 percent sustainable materials by 2050 and reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by 2050.

Sooil Lee, President and CEO of Hankook Tire & Technology, said, “Hankook has long been seeing climate change as a critical issue and has been very committed to environmental sustainability.”

“We will continue to put our efforts to make the world a more sustainable place. Our efforts include a transparent disclosure of information on climate change response every year as well as taking the lead in pioneering eco-friendly products,” he added. (TT)
