Michelin Debuts in Electric Bus Tyre Segment

Michelin has begun making its first range of electric bus tyres, MICHELIN X Incity EV Z, catering to traditional urban and suburban vehicles.

Initially designed for electric vehicles, the MICHELIN X Incity EV Z tyre range is especially efficient when used on traditional buses, said the company.

With the new offering, the French tyre maker said it supports the transition towards cleaner, more efficient and more independent electric mobility solutions in Europe.

To handle the EV battery weight, MICHELIN X Incity EV Z tyres comes with an increased load capacity of up to 8 tonnes. Based on MICHELIN Regenion technology, the MICHELIN X Incity EV Z range is built with a progressive tread design that delivers longitudinal and lateral grip.

The new tyre range has 10 percent greater longevity, combined with their 13 percent better rolling resistance and increased load capacity make a great combination for reducing fleet operating costs. Michelin has decided on a standard size to facilitate fleet management: 275/70 R 22.5 152/149J. (TT)
