SRI Joins Japan Hydrogen Association To Explore Hydrogen Energy Utilization

Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI) joined the Japan Hydrogen Association, which promotes global cooperation throughout the hydrogen industry as well as the formation of reliable supply chains for hydrogen.

Founded with the aim of hastening the arrival of the Hydrogen Economy by means of carrying out various social implementation projects, the Japan Hydrogen Association is an open-participation organization whose members represent a wide range of industries, which gives the association a comprehensive overview of supply chains.

SRI is working to achieve carbon neutrality in its tyre manufacturing processes by the year 2050. As part of these efforts, the company has recently begun examining the possibility of utilising hydrogen energy, which is widely viewed as the energy source of the future, at its major tyre factories in Japan.

The Japanese tyre maker said it has joined the Japan Hydrogen Association to participate more actively in efforts to overcome the challenges involved in bringing about the hydrogen economy while also exchanging useful information with other companies and organizations.
