VE Commercial Vehicles Promotes Sustainable Urban Mobility; Delivers 50 CNG AC Buses to PMPML

VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) delivered fifty 24-seater Eicher CNG AC buses to Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) to support the modernisation of sustainable urban mobility solutions.

These buses were flagged off by former CM Devendra Fadnavis and Maharashtra BJP president Chandrakant Patil in Mahatma Phule Mandai, Pune. The buses will operate in central Pune area, namely Deccan to Pulgate, Swargate to Pune Station and Swargate to Shivajinagar.

The BSVI compliant buses are powered by E483 CNG engines delivering 115 hp at 2,600 rpm and peak torque of 360 Nm at 1,600-2,000 rpm. All buses come equipped with Eicher Live, a telematics solution, connected in real-time with the Eicher Uptime Centre which provides remote bus monitoring and predictive diagnosis to reduce abrupt breakdowns. The compact size and turning radius of this 24-seater AC bus will be ideal for navigating on congested narrow roads.

Commenting on this delivery, B Srinivas, SVP – Bus Business and Product Strategy, VECV, said, “We are pleased to deliver Eicher CNG buses to PMPML. Eicher CNG buses are environmentally friendly and with an increase in the cost of diesel, they significantly reduce operating costs for PMPML. Eicher CNG AC buses will provide a comfortable ride to Pune passengers and drivers.”

Hemant Rasne, Chairman, Pune Municipal Corporation Standing Committee, said, “Affordable, fast, comfortable, time-saving and safe travel are the hallmarks of ‘Punyadasham’ scheme. It will help reduce traffic jams, parking problems, pollution and health complaints. It can save a lot of fuel, time, and money for the passengers. The plan has the potential to change the face of the city’s public transport system. To date, due to the lack of an efficient public transport system, people used their two-wheelers or four-wheelers, but through this scheme, people will get the option to switch from private vehicles to public transport. I am confident that the people of Pune will respond well to this scheme.” (MT)
