Volvo Car India Announces Price Hike For Selected Models

Luxury carmaker Volvo Cars has announced an ex-showroom price hike of INR 1 lakh to INR 2 lakh for selected models in its line-up effective immediately. Volvo’s flagship sedan S90 and its premium SUVs, XC40, XC60 and XC90, are chosen for this round of price hike.

The rise in input costs, the fall of the Indian Rupee in the global market and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the business setup has forced the brand to increase its prices.

The ex-showroom prices after the increase are as under:

Volvo S90 D4 Inscription: INR 60,90,000

Volvo XC40 T4 R Design: INR 41,25,000

Volvo XC60 D5 Inscription: INR 60,90,000

Volvo XC90 D5 Inscription: INR 88,90,000.

The company’s luxury sedan S60 continues with its ex-showroom price of INR 45,90,000.

Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director, Volvo Car India, said, “Our commitment to the Indian market and our customers is reflected in the fact that while the Indian auto industry went through price escalation across the spectrum, we at Volvo Cars maintained the prices of all our products for three years since 2018. We are, however, now faced with a situation where rising input costs leave us with no other option but to share some of these costs with the customer. We may have to relook at the prices and increase later in the year, depending on how input costs develop. As an organisation focused on safety, we will continue to keep our promise towards our customers and prioritise their safety and well-being.” (MT)
