As tyre companies are focusing on fuel-efficient, durable and safe tyres, suppliers are expected to have new and multifunctional materials. In an interview Daniela Sordi, Chief Technology Officer, CarbonX, told Tyre Trends: “The main challenges foreseen is linked to sustainability: how to decrease emissions. Either by increasing fuel efficiency to reduce CO2 emissions or increase battery range for electrical vehicles, increase mileage to reduce particulate emission by limiting wear or with sustainable sourcing of raw materials. This is where CarbonX steps in, being able to reduce tyre friction, reduce tyre wear and soon the ability to provide a 100% circular grade based on waste oils as feedstock.”
